Ianna Thoughts

I love the thought of conversing with my 4 and a half year old daughter.

You will always listen to the thoughts that are sincere and honest.
I will always ask her, "do you love me?"
she answers, "YES".
Then I ask, "why?"
"Because you are my daddy and I love you.", she answers.

That is just one of the short 'talks' we have. There are a lot more things that and I normaly talk it too with Joanna. That keeps us awake a little longer in the night, discussing how Ianna is growing up to be a little girl.

Me: Ianna, do you get angry too when daddy is mad?
Ianna: Yes.
Me: How do you feel now, are you still angry with me?
Ianna: No. Kanina lang yun, now wala na. Now I am happy.
Me: I am happy that you can tell me how you feel. You can always say the truth and not be afraid. :)
Ianna: I love you. (then gives me a kiss and I give her a hug)

After she told me this, I try to minimize my temper. I talk to her that I also don't like getting angry at her. Now we do our part (she doesn't give me an attitude and I try to limit myself from getting angry) and we are both happy.

Sometimes when we go out together, while walking, I will try to start a conversation. I wanted her to be more open to what her opinions are even at young age.

Me: Ano talk mo sa akin today? (what do you want to talk to me today?)
Ianna: I don't know.
Me: Anything.
Ianna: Ano gusto mo? (what do you want?)
Me: What did you watch today at Disney Channel?
.... then Ianna will get excited with what she was watching (Stanley, Handy Manny, JoJo Circus.. etc)

I know these are simple conversations, but every minute is worth listening when Ianna talks about what she interests her. I also take this time to tell her how much I love her, how me and Joanna enjoys being a 'happy family', and stories about her lolos and lolas, titos and titas. So she does not forget her family in the Philippines.
